Transportation Platform

Customer & Driver Mobility Platform

A connected transportation platform coordinating reservations and dispatch across separate customer and driver mobile apps.

Two connected React Native mobile applications of an active company project. Product and business details anonymized.

My Role & ScopeSoftware Engineer Intern · React Native Mobile Engineering (Extending Two Existing Applications)October 2023 – October 2024
Actual Delivery Status

Completed internship delivery; extended two active applications within a collaborative engineering team.

Selected Personal Contributions

Specific features, integration flows, and infrastructure tasks I personally implemented:

  • Customer Mobile Application: Implemented customer authentication, profile workflows, vehicle management, wallet/payment-method screens, reservation booking, trip history, notifications, and in-app customer chat.
  • Driver Mobile Application: Built driver onboarding views, OTP sign-in, persisted sessions, profile/vehicle document management, assigned trip details, passenger ratings, and driver-side chat.
  • Trip Execution Workflows: Developed trip start and completion flows featuring interactive map display, current-location lookup, confirmation states, and camera-based trip-start document/photo capture.
  • API Integration & Caching: Connected mobile apps to backend REST endpoints and Twilio Conversations for in-app messaging, using background fetching and AsyncStorage local caching to retain loaded trip and chat data.
Engineering Challenge

Technical Challenge & Solution

The Problem

Drivers frequently operated across fluctuating mobile network connectivity, creating risks of losing currently loaded trip itineraries or message histories when cellular reception dropped.

My Approach

Implemented local caching with AsyncStorage to retain loaded trip details, credentials, and message threads locally, combined with lightweight background fetching and conversational refresh triggers upon opening chat or trip views.

Verified Outcome

Drivers maintained reliable access to their active trip details and passenger messages during intermittent connectivity without app stalls or empty screens.

Supporting Architecture & Platform Context

A connected transportation ecosystem consisting of two dedicated React Native mobile applications—one for customers and one for drivers—coordinating reservation requests, dispatch, passenger communication, and trip fulfillment.

Platform Components

Broader architectural context across the connected product components:
